It's Back to School We Go!: First Day Stories From Around the Worldby Ellen Jackson and Jan Davey Ellis | Aug 1, 2003
This book tells about different children around the world and what their first day of school looks like. For each student, I can think of an activity to do with my class.
A hardy YES! to this book! In the line of "The Places you will Go" it talks about life's adventures! 5 thumbs up!
This book is a wonderful way to build empathy for students who are new to your class and coming from a different country.
This rhyming book talks about how we start with a small circle (being the individual) and how our circles grow as we get older and meet more people.

This is a touching story about two girls who develop a friendship in a refuge camp and share one pair of flip-flops.
This is a book that was created from a song by Harris J. It is more of a poem than a story. It shows how to be kind and live your life to the fullest. Assalamu Alaikum is Arabic for "peace be upon you."
Writing ideas: Rewrite the chorus. What are other words that mean "peace be upon you". What does "peace be upon you" mean to you?

I love books so much! My particular loves are children's books and professional books that catch my fancy. One thing that keeps me happy and sane as a teacher is being able to get tons of books from the library and share them with my students. I have tried different ways to keep track of my books, but here's another attempt. We'll se if I can make this one fly!
